It's A New Day

Weight: 214.2 lbs.

I went to bed at 9:00 last night, and this was not a moment too soon. I could barely make it through my evening shows, and was so tired as to need Tom to practically drag me to bed because I could hardly even get off the coach to head there myself without prodding.

But, today, I feel better already and yesterday’s mysterious snorkiness and other symptoms seem to have abated. This happens to me often lately, where I have brief, transient symptoms of something, perhaps allergies that I am unaware of having, that then pass uneventfully on their own in hours or a day. Very wierd!

Unfortunately, yesterday’s ill feelings compromised my workout, so I will try to do double duty today to make up for this. Right now it is so early that I haven’t even had my morning joe yet….

Later we are headed to two casinos to cash in on our freebies, as we are back to taking advantage of them rather than the other way around. Although this can be hard for people like us (it is like an alcoholic going to a bar to cash in on orders of free pop), we hope to get back on track with this mentality, and had pulled it off much of last year. Our freebies include food money at either casino, so we will likely take in one of the buffets. I don’t feel intimidated by buffets, although many would find this highly unorthodox of a restaurant choice, especially as frequently as we tend to go. But, I actually find that I can choose pretty well, and in some ways, this can be better than ordering off of a menu of limited choices for protein. Typically, I gravitate to the shrimp, chicken and other dishes similar to what I might order off a fixed menu anyway. I will try not to be distracted by desserts and other temptations, but other than when I am in  a lenient or crazed mode, I usually am pretty good.

Yesterday I ate moderately at home and interestingly, found myself full more quickly than usual. I wonder if my stomach upset contributed to this sensitivity. For breakfast, I only had like two bites of some leftover souvlaki before being stuffed to the gills, and this repeated itself for lunch. This was highly unusual for me, but I wonder if it is what others typically feel and describe. I certainly can see where it is hard to consume enough calories or protein under such circumstances! It will be interesting to see what todays tummy is like, because by dinnertime last night, I was back to a more typical pouch feeling and ate considerably more (2 broiled fish fillets and some peas). Otherwise yesterday, I plied myself with liquids (herbals teas, decaf., crystal light) - and perhaps this relates to my earlier sensation of fullness (?)

Now tomorrow, I have a doctor appointment at the bariatric clinic. I keep forgetting about this appointment for some reason, and have to see it on the calendar to jar my memory. I go early and then head straight to work, so may not post about it until Wednesday. It will be interesting to see how they think I am doing, as I plan to ask several things about my diet and appetite. I wonder how they will find my experience compared to others, and where I stand average (weight loss) wise. I see who I consider to be a nice assistant, so hopefully she will be user friendly and this will be a positive experience. Hopefully too, I won’t need blood work ordered!

I am very diligent about taking my supplements of all sorts, and am pleased to have a several month supply of Celebrate multi’s, calcium and iron to tide me over. I feel confident in their products and their advice, and this has taken the guesswork out of at least these nutrients. In addition, I take sublingual B, liquid D, fish oil capsules (that I plan to ask her about as I wonder about absorbtion), and most recently added acai liquid for good measure. Perhaps I have been caught up in the acai frenzy, but the “research” I have done on this sounds promising and I figure it can’t hurt. Can it?

Well - I am off to the basement to do my thang now that Tom has finished his and is off to work (and not thrilled about it, like most this Monday especially!)There’s lots to tackle today to make up for sluggish Sunday…so I’d better run!
