Necessary Mutilation

I seem to have lost some weight despite eating at a Chinese Buffet with Barb and Rick last night! After our gambling excursion (made successful by a last minute jackpot by Tom), we headed to Fuji Buffet and we were all starving. I ate my fair share of assorted chinese crap, including hot and sour soup, stuff from chicken, beef and shrimp dishes, cheesy crab mess, and other questionable things. It was all tasty, but not likely to be healthy other than probably meeting my protein requirements.

In any event, we had a fun time with our good friends, and I’m sure that I succeeded in corrupting them as I have my husband when it comes to the gambling bug.

Today is the last of our Christmas celebrations, and our last chance to pawn off our leftover goodies. We will be going out for dinner, and then heading back here for a belated gift exchange. I have decided that whatever chocolates or cookies they don’t consume tonight, I will take to work, and the unopened stuff I am saving for a New Years work gathering next week. I think that Tom is also on board with this plan, as he too hopes to start this year off in better form. He has been working out double time, and I put in an extra lap this morning.

Otherwise, all is calm for the moment, although I must say that yesterday, at first, it appeared as if we were off to a crummy start for the new year. First, I lost all the instructions I need to download pics to this site, AND am still grappling with computer issues that make this more difficult anyway. There is nothing I hate more than complex computer issues, so this put me in a very bad mood in the wee hours of the new year. Plus, our cable has been quirky all month, and was off again all day yesterday and much of the day before. Time Warner has already made several trips in an attempt to locate and fix the problem, and are now due again tomorrow as obviously they were not successful. I am getting very grumpy about this! Plus, Tom’s pension check came, but when I opened it yesterday, it had shrunk to $50 something  without explaination, and we frantically dug and called for info. to inquire as to what happened to the rest (usually enough to cover our mortgage!) We are still not entirely cetrtain as to the specifics, as it seems that his company’s pension was taken over by a pension guarantee corp. due to banrupcy, and that this is the first month for them to now issue the checks. Perhaps this, coinciding with the holiday has delayed things…and we can only hope his usual amount comes, and makes it on Monday.
