Cycling Again

Weight: 226 (!?!)

Unfortunately, I don’t mean on the recumbent bike this time. It is just after 4:00 am, and I am restless, unable to sleep and surging with adrenaline. I have been awake since just after 3:00, and finally have thrown in the towel on trying to get back to sleep. I didn’t go to bed until around 11:00 last night, as we got home late from the Chinese Auction, so it’s not like I’ve gotten in a full night’s sleep, or anything.

What the heck is wrong with me?! And all I could think to do in these wee hours and so as not to wake Tom, is to blog here. And, I suppose that I will head down to exercise soon. Maybe this will use up my excess energy…either that, or infuse me with more! I should be fun a garage sales today!

The cats are thrilled (and confused) as they’ve gotten an early breakfast. Gingerbread is looking at me like I am insane, and unfortunately, she is probably right.

Later today, Tom and I are headed to the casino for their annual Christmas shopping “extravaganza” whereby you can use your “points” to purchase things at vendors they have set up for this purpose. Last year was great fun, so I am looking forward to it again and have saved as many points as I have been able, for this purpose. Tom is none too happy, as I have already warned him that we are not going there to play, but to shop. Understandably, this is not his idea of fun. We do plan to eat there while at it, so hopefully this will placate him some. One of these days we’ve got to get in synch with our eating habits though, as he has an even more atrocious diet than I used to, and takes meds for everything from blood pressure to diabetes (borderline) to cholestrol, likely as a result. I need to work on being a better wife and making him healthier foods and shopping and stuff. Setting a better example through my own improved (albeit very imperfect still) diet, just has not worked. At least he is diligent about exercise!

As to diet, other than having one minature dark chocolate bar that I won at the auction last night (while Tom ate the other dozen or so!), I did pretty good diet wise yesterday. We ate at a Greek restaurant near the auction, and I just ordered a cheese omelet sans the accompanying home fries. Instead they gave me applesauce, and I only ate a spoonful or two. Plus, I left some of the egg - although I must admit that this was in part because it was literally crunchy with egg shells! Yuk!

Earlier in the day I did snack on cashews, ate the leftovers from the night before’s beef souvlaki, and had sliced turkey for breakfast (!) Wierd, but good protein and quick!

Today’s diet may be more of a challenge given that we are spending much of it on the road and likely to eat in the casino’s lounge, where it consists largely of finger foods and stuff.

Oh, and lastly, one of the things (amongst 7 wins!) won at last night’s auction, was an autographed plaque with statistics and a picture of a Mickey Rivera (I had never heard of him and had to look him up on the internet). I guess he was quite a famous baseball player etc. Anyway, I am hoping that this may be worth something or that someone we know may be interested in it…and do plan to see what I can find out about its value today. Any clues, anyone? Maybe it’ll end up on craigslist or e-bay, or my friends, the sports loving family with 2 teenage boys, will want it. I’m happy with the basket ‘o toiletries, myself!

Well, I can’t think of much more to write about in such wee hours as this, so I guess that I will reserve the option to say more later if the sky falls or something extraordinary happens, and say “goodbye” before most have even arisen to say “hello”! At times like this, “mania” can certainly be constructive and fun! Unless I “crash” later, that is.

 Echhh..what is happening to me…?!
