Gambling and Rambling

Weight: 229.5 lbs.

Well, I finally broke 230, although given the scrumptiousness of tonight’s casino buffet, will probably be right back over 230 lbs. tomorrow. At least I admit that this time I had something to do with it!

We had a nice evening with Barb and Rick, and Tom’s sister and brother-in-law who we ran into at the casino buffet. Originally we had planned to eat over the border at the Fallsview casino, but after sitting in line for nearly an hour and barely getting any closer to the border (it is Canada’s Thanksgiving), we decided that unless we lived there and had to go in, this was an insane idea. (And the line to go in was like another mile or two long when we got out, proving that we would probably still be on the road, if we had tried to continue on our way!)

So, instead, we ran into Joan and Ron at the local casino, and decided that this must have been fate. They too had just arrived for dinner, so we ended up sitting together and laughing over crab legs. I must have eaten a pound of them, along with shrimp, some baked/bbq chicken, snow peas, carrots, a chinese beef dish and a bite of pulled pork. All this amounted to protein heaven, but the calorie count must also have been equally high. I can’t say I am too regretful however, as this was still a nice break and treat from the cold cut dinners I have been serving up lately.

What wasn’t so hot, were the machines. We had decided that we would split our points/free play money with our friends, and whatever we all made on our spins, we would divide equally at the end. This made cheering for each other that much more fun, however it would have been even more exciting if there was something to cheer for! I think that our highest spin on a quarter machine was 10 times single bars - which equalled a grand total of 100 quarters, or $12.50 each, by my math. Whoopie!

So, Tom and I came home $45.25 to the good, which would have been $65.25 had Tom not spent back the $20 he won when I wasn’t looking.

We are trying to be extra conservative at the moment due to the bank “stealing” back our money, and this coinciding with some very large bills this month. Tomorrow is the day I get to go bananas with the bank, and hope that they see the light and reimburse us quickly and easily, or I may have a stroke or commit homicide! I did talk to a very kind and sympathetic bank rep. today, however the people in the department that we needed weren’t in due to the holiday, so she wasn’t able to be much more than supportive. Although this did help some, and she did say that if she had been the one to handle our situation from the start, she would have advised some things differently then the advice that we had so far gotten. She also was appalled that we never got notification that the bank had decided to take back our refund, and said that she had never heard of them doing this before.

Well, I can feel my blood pressure rising as I am writing this…so I’d better go chill. If you care, tune in tomorrow for more rageful spewing, and hopefully resolution, of this issue. If not, I already know what I am likely to eat for dinner tomorrow, and it won’t be anything found in a grocery store!!
