Tom and I spent upwards of 6 hours at garage sales today, and this after I have written all week about how tired and burnt out and yucky I am. Nevertheless, Saturday just wouldn’t be right without them, and we hit the road early. I feel a little guilty that we blew off our annual metal-detecting hunt, because I couldn’t imagine doing such a thing today, only to spend probably even more energy “hunting” for bargains!
And boy, did we find some good booty today! This includes a hot-and-cold water dispenser, nearly new, for $10. It even has one of those little fridge compartments underneath and, more importantly, I found just the right spot for it already in our kitchen.
Also, I got a large folding bookshelf for $3; several great travel books for 50 cents each; a small TV/VCR to be used in our den, for $5; pet steps for Callie, who is too old and too fat to get up onto the bed without clawing up our comforter and hanging by her toenails; and a huge assortment of other things equally cheap!
[Hey Roy and Jeanne, I even got you some more NY Times crossword books (5/$1) but, unfortunately, they are Sundays. Maybe you'll work your way up to the Sunday ones someday and, if not, we'll sell them to someone else at our own garage sale!]
