Necessary Mutilation

Today was another long, challenging day — although I have no right to complain given that the hardship really belonged mostly to my friend Janet and her siblings, who buried their sister today.  It was a lovely and touching ceremony, and Sally would be pleased that everything was done with such love and care on her behalf. The mercy brunch afterwards was a time to reminisce and recollect, and she would have been happy to see so many partake in the process. I ate freely from the cold cut platter and relish plates, and didn’t bother to fuss about my diet today.
