Necessary Mutilation

Today has been a very long and wearisome day, and I am ending it feeling both frustrated and warmed. First of all, Tom and I are happy to have picked up his sister-in-law, Paulette, from the airport tonight, and feel blessed by her kind and pleasant company. She is in from Iowa and will be staying with us for the next few days. It is especially refreshing after a day like I’ve had, to be in the company of someone compassionate and sane. Before bringing her home and leaving her to talk with Tom while I write this, we took her out to good old Danny’s restaurant and had a magnificent dinner. I ate a bowl and a half of creamed soups off the salad bar, and the baked scallop meal. I ate a half of an included salt potato, and gave the rest to Tom and Paulette. We were all starving and enjoyed our dinners and one another’s company immensely.

Prior to this, I had a very long day at work, that culminated in an evening staff meeting. Although a busy and challenging work day, everything went pretty smoothly and, as always, I enjoyed the cameraderie of my colleagues during our meeting. So, what is my beef, you ask? I’ll give you one guess!
