Planes, Plans, and Plants

Weight: 282 lbs.

Well, I lost another pound!  Although this is technically good news, I must admit that I am freaked out to have landed on this number.  It so happens that 282 is what I weighed at what used to be my all-time high like 10 years ago, when I went on what was to be my longest and most “successful” diet. In approx. 1999/2000 I had had it with myself, went out and bought Atkins’ book, and became an instant devotee. All told, I lost 100 pounds spanning about a 14-month period, and was married soon after. Life was good until (of course) the weight began to creep back on as I reintroduced carbs … and before I knew it, it was 2009 and I was at an even higher high weight.  Ackkk!

That is why I hate seeing this number again, and really hope to lose past it by tomorrow! Please, no stall this time!

Otherwise, today has been a good day (though my shoulder is still killing me). Our friends Nancy and Charlie came over, and yahoo, Nancy helped plant flowers along a long neglected part of our driveway. Mostly I watched and barked orders, while she and Tom did the manual labor. I feel a combination of guilty, and relieved. Even if I was able to bend and lift, I haven’t been very good at either even pre-op., for some time now. And how pretty it now looks!

Also, I am in good spirits with the upcoming long weekend ahead of us. Not that I need a day off or anything (as I am still out on leave -ha ha!), but that this means Tom will be off with me on Monday.

We plan to meet up with friends at the casino this weekend, and otherwise just appreciate the beautiful spring weather and our time together.

We did get an offer for a “free” trip to Atlantic City for four – “free” being in quotes because this is Harrah’s way of hoping we gamble our life savings away to them if we take them up on it.  Just the same, we are stupid enough to want to go, especially as this 3 day trip is just before my June birthday, AND it would allow us to invite our favorite gambling friends to also join us for “free.”

But, alas, in a frantic call to accept this offer before they are booked, our friends said that they aren’t free that weekend  - although they too are heartbroken over this.

Oh well, it’s probably all for the better … especially as other than disability I haven’t been earning an income, and our Dr. bills have been high.

Unfortunately, however, we are rarely logical about such matters, especially as Tom and I live and love to enjoy the moment and tend to do things with gusto.

And as a homebody lately, I know that I certainly could use some gusto right about now!
