How ironic that today I got my license updated and was able to use the photo from my last one taken 8 years ago (i.e. 100 pounds ago during my “successful” stint on Atkins diet). In this picture I have only one chin and actually look good (I think, anyway); but have felt funny producing it as evidence of who I am for about the last 7 years, seeing as my face has doubled in size, width and number of chins (no, make that tripled). It amazes me that no one has questioned the legitimacy of my identification, or at least did double takes when comparing my current face to the supposed plastic version of me.
I am grateful at least for the opportunity to even use my old photo at all — maybe this time I’ll actually grow (back) into this nicer, leaner face and no longer feel self-conscious – as if I’m committing some fraudulent act every time I must produce identification.
Thankfully I wasn’t forced to have my current bubba face for another 8 years…at least not under plastic, anyway.
The real face size is up to me….
